Q. What work is being carried out?

A. Essentially a major renewal of the main clubhouse facilities, pools and poolside and the addition of the fantastic Upside Down World for the Kids Club.

You will see a new lobby, reception lounge and reception desk area, with members’ computer/printer desk plus a TV/reading room/games/lounge. A new golf shop will sit alongside the office for our general manager Jorge Oliveira.

The Clubhouse will change dramatically providing an exciting Bistro/Brasserie, a new bar extending from inside the clubhouse out to poolside, a new main restaurant having panoramic views overlooking the 1st hole of Quinta North, all supported by greatly improved kitchens and stores.

Both pools will have reduced depth (1.60m) to allow for full heating all year round, the main pool will have a gently sloping beach down into it, a water feature for children to enjoy and overall increased sunbathing terrace area and al fresco dining.

The Upside Down Area for kids (0-12) is exactly that, really exciting and stimulating.
 

Q. How long will it take?

A. The work will start on 2 October 2017 and we will re-open fully on 1 May 2018.
 

Q. Will this increase my management fees in future years?

A. No. This project is fully funded from cash reserves and will not impact upon any decisions around the annual management fee.
 

Q. Where will I be able to eat and drink when I’m at Fairways during the works?

A. A temporary Clubhouse will be set up during the last two weeks of September on the tennis courts. This will provide a bar and restaurant, a terrace overlooking Pinheiros Altos golf, from which we expect to offer an excellent menu and service as usual. Reception/Reservations will operate fully from here as will the kitchens and other necessary services.
 

Q. What kind of menu will be available at the marquee?

A. The menu will be simpler but we anticipate having a good range of choice of grilled meats and fish as well as salads, pastas, omelettes and burgers together with our usual snacks. Also drinks from the bar as usual of course.
 

Q. Will you have the Christmas Lunch and the New Year’s Eve dinner?

A. Yes indeed.
 

Q. Will my villa be affected by noise?

A. This is a substantial contract of works so there will be some disruption and noise particularly in the first two to three months. This should reduce as we move into the fitting out stages. Plans have been made for those members whose villas are close to the works to be re-located but we will all have to be understanding during this 7 month period (October to April)
 

Q. Where will I be able to park?

A. The contractors will be using the main clubhouse carpark. During the works all staff vehicles will be offsite to ensure that members and guests can park either in existing spaces or close by to these.
 

Q. What about other facilities such as gym, heated pool, tennis courts, beauty salon?

A. We have made arrangements with Four Seasons Country Club to allow our members and guests to use their facilities during the building works. In addition some of the villas which have been taken out of action due to their proximity to the works will house the beauty salon and hairdressing, also a small gym for classes with limited exercise equipment. We are also making available the heated pool of one of the villas for Members and Guests
